German Bread Dumplings

Take bread dough and make little buns the size of a small egg. Let rise until doubled. Put 1 T. shortening in frying pan with 1/2 sliced onion. Simmer until onions are turning yellow. Add 2 cups water with 1/2 tsp. salt. Put in little buns and cover. Let simmer until you hear them fry. Take cover off and brown on other side.
