Old-Fashioned New York Egg Cream
the cook:anne about more

Ingredients:
1 cup milk
4 tablespoons chocolate syrup
1 cup cold seltzer

Directions:
Pour the chocolate syrup into a large glass, add the chocolate syrup and stir with a long-handled spoon. Add the seltzer, pouring it straight into the glass so that it foams. Stir the drink again and serve.

I must stress that the chocolate syrup of choice, as all New Yorkers know, is Fox's U-Bet. I include their own recipe as an alternative:

Pour 1/2 inch of U-bet Syrup into a tall glass. Add 3/4 inch of whole milk. Fill with
carbonated water. Mix briskly.
